Cizhou (white with brown decoration) wine storage vessel
Stoneware pots in varying sizes were used as oil vessels and for exporting Chinese rice wine, vinegar and rice. In particular, “Cizhou” stoneware pots have become very collectable. Characterised by a slip glaze surface and painted decoration, the pots date from the Yuan and Ming dynasties. Old stoneware pots in good condition are quite rare.
